Connecting The Rainbow: Healing Perinatal Trauma

This Workshop is a one OR two-day online learning experience live via Zoom
May 7 and 8, 2025, 9:00am-5:00pm (U.S. Eastern time zone)
Day 1-May 7 is open to ALL professionals interested in advanced training on the Perinatal Population
Day 2-May 8 is open to any individual who has at minimum taken a live or in-person Phase 1 Brainspotting Training
You may sign up for Day 1 or Both Days if you meet the day 2 training prerequisite.
This workshop is dynamic and will include guest speakers who share their own loss journey as well as Dr. Janelle Peifer guest lecturing on working with people of color during the perinatal period.
Participants of Day 1 will be able to:
- Define Perinatal Trauma
- Describe the effects of trauma on an individual and family system
- Know risk factors and populations at increased risk for perinatal trauma
- Identifying common threads and themes for perinatal grief and loss
- Best practices to mitigate trauma effects
- Learn the phases of the perinatal period through The Rainbow Arc of Perinatal Trauma© where trauma can occur with an overview of core concerns in each phase of the family building process
- Understand the core principles of Brainspotting and how they are a natural fit with this population
- Increase confidence and competency when engaging with this population
- Be aware of racial and cultural considerations and how to be most effective
- Increase understanding of the relevancy of using Brainspotting in the Perinatal Period and pregnancy
Participants of Day 2 will be able to:
- Identify professional struggles with the perinatal population
- Self evaluate burnout and engage in self compassion exercise
- Expand upon the principles of Brainspotting and how to use these tools to help your client in the healing process.
- Integrating Brainspotting in to your practice with pregancy and during the perinatal period
- Increase understanding of the relevancy of using Brainspotting in the Perinatal Period and pregnancy
- Reduce concerns about using Brainspotting during pregnancy
- Discuss which Brainspotting Phase training tools are helpful to the population
- Learning how to set up a session using “Connecting the Rainbow” approach through demonstration and dyad practicum
- This approach is applicable across various populations and will be introduced through the perinatal lens.
*This training meets the Postpartum Support International Advanced Training Hours for Certification and Continuing Education for recertification for the Perinatal Mental Health Certification (PMH-C)
